Railways of the Jungfrau Region
English lang., ca. 80 min. - In the very heart of Switzerland's Bernese Oberland there stand three mountains, the Eiger, the Moench and the Jungfrau. The tallest of these, at over 4000 metres, is the Jungfrau. Feeding the Jungfrau Railway is the longest cogwheel railway in Europe, the Wengernalpbahn which stretches towards Kleine Scheidegg from Lauterbrunnen in the west and Grindelwald in the east.Another funicular railway rises to Harder Kulm from Interlaken past a zoo where Ibex can be seen. Lastly, the famous Schynige Platte Bahn rises from Wilderswil, two kilometres south of Interlaken, to a height of nearly 2000 metres.

Der Rhein
English language, ca. 45 min. - The beautiful river Rhein is not only one of the most important waterways of Europe, with his impressive length of 1.320 km he is also building a natural frontier to France and connects several countries in Europe. On his way from his spring in Switzerland to his mouth in the Northern Sea, he passes some of the favourite European culture towns. Basel, Strassburg and Ruedesheim, Duesseldorf and Koeln are only a few of them. He even finds his way through a very impressive and varied landscape. Near Schaffhausen he falls 21 meters in the deep and is so the biggest waterfall of Europe. Well known is also the boulder Loreley, sung by poets and in lyrics. It is told that a very beautiful girl named Loreley brushed her hair while singing high on the rock and became so the fate of the sailors, who were distracted by her beautiful voice, hit the rocks in the river bed and sank with their ships.

At the Bingen hole the Rhine breaks throug the slate mountains towered by castles. A special climax of your journey is the Loreley and the wine villages St. Goar and St. Goarshausen. We finish our journey in Koblenz at the conjunctions of Mosel and Rhine.

Rostock verfuegt noch heute ueber eine Vielzahl historischer Bauten und architektonischer Kostbarkeiten. Die Stadt traegt den Beinamen "Stadt der sieben Tore". Erhalten sind das Kuhtor, das Steintor und der Lagebuschturm. Weitere Kostbarkeiten sind das Kloster "Zum heiligen Kreuz" und der Rostocker Zoo. Ein Eldorado fuer Segler - so wird mittlerweile "Warnemuende" genannt. Man erreicht Warnemuende ueber die Stadtautobahn. Hier findet sich ein weisser Sandstrand und viele Freizeiteinrichtungen.
