Hans Dieter Reichert of Treffpunkt (Suedwestdeutscher Rundfunk, Stuttgart) takes us to the Easter Egg Museum (Osterei-Museum) Sonnenbuehl, an old schoolhouse, converted in 1985 into a museum. Through exhibits and demonstrations the story of Easter customs comes to life. You can learn how to blow out an egg and observe different ways of decorating it. These range from the very delicate knotting technique for a lace-covered egg, from etching and painting, to the dying and decorating with natural products, such as onion skins and walnut shells, as done in earlier times. The custom and art of painting eggs was begun by the Sorben, a Slavic minority of some 150,000 in Brandenburg and Saxony, and was perfected by the Hessians. The Hessians have become veritable specialists in this tradition. Not only are their eggs beautifully decorated, the Hessian Easter egg also shows verses and sayings, inscribed in beautiful penmanship. Numerous Easter games involve the egg and are shown on the video.

Berlin erleben Fuehrerstandsmitfahrt mit dem Bus 100
German language, ca. 50 min. - Ne' Menge Berlin mit dem 100er Bus. Kurz nach der Maueroeffnung, 1990, wurde diese Bus-Linie schnell zu einer der beliebtesten im Berliner Streckennetz. Im Westteil Berlins startet der Bus am Bahnhof Zoo und passiert den Grossen Stern mit der Siegessaeule, das Schloss Bellevue (Sitz des Bundespraesidenten) und die Kongresshalle. Fuer viele Touristen das Highlight Die Fahrt durch das Brandenburger Tor und durch die beruehmte Strasse "Unter den Linden" mit Staatsoper und Humboldt-Universitaet. Berlin, 1987, First of May Celebration
GDR, 1987, German commentary, ca. 180 min. - One of the biggest May Day celebrations in East Berlin was the city's 750th anniversary festival. Tens of thousands of marchers of all ages, waving red banners, balloons and placards, went past the reviewing stand, where Communist party general secretary Erich Honecker, looking like a benign grandfather, waved back. There were scenes of dancing and pageantry and the usual platitudes on the supremacy of communism. Ironically, tow years later the German Democratic Republic ceased to exist.

There is aboslutely no obligation to rent more videos. The shipping container is usually suitable for use to return your tapes to us. We even enclose a mailing label with our address and your return address which may be placed on the container when you return your tapes. What could be easier?
